Psalm 5:3
“In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.”
One of the reasons many people avoid talking with God is because they don’t expect an answer. This could not be further from the truth. Or, we don’t know how to.
King David was the man who wrote this psalm and was also one of the greatest kings to govern Israel.
His integrity, humility and ability to recover from his mistakes impressed God so much that God referred to him as “a man after my own heart”. Now that’s saying something.
But did you catch the last few words of the above passage? “… I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.”
In the original Hebrew, “wait expectantly” literally means to “lean forward in anticipation; to peer into the distance. To wait for.”
God loves to communicate with us! He promises us in Jeremiah 33:3
“Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”
How do we talk to God? The same way we talk with anyone; just start asking him things. I’m not talking about rote religious repetition, however. Many times, that is simply man’s effort to appease God whom they don’t really know.
No, just start talking! He’s leaning forward in anticipation waiting for us to come to him!
During this time of uncertainty, God want’s us to come to him. He might just tell you something you never knew before!
